well we have a partial sucess
spoke to the infamous jason at manflex (sorry everytime i see that word just makes me think of something dodgy)
give him his due`s he was all clued up on it
and said he would have all the clips seperatly bagged and labeled up as i was getting someone to collect them today.

then got a call back saying they had run out of the bigger size clip (35-50mm) but would be back in stock tomorrow.

luckily we have a company who deals in high pressure air hoses up the road,
so took said pipe, as they have turned up today (and nice piece of kit they are as well, nice one flippa)
up to said company and got the remaing clips off them
so hopefully next week they will be fitted and all`s well

sorry for the long warble on

Silicone Pipes

Post by Socket Set Sue » Wed Dec 12, 2007 3:15 pm

Hi Flippa, to finish the job off once and for all would it be possible to get the remaining rubber hoses produced in silicone? These remaining hoses are just as likely to fail as the ones being replaced with silicone at the present.

Front Heater Pipes 61-211 and 61-212

Rear Heater Pipes 61-211A and 61-213A

Small Dia Pipe Expansion Box to Front Heater 15-188

Coolant Feed and Return to Turbo 13-546 and 13-539A

I believe this will replace all coolant hoses but please double check me to see if I have missed any.

yesterday 3.15 oh he`s out to lunch
4.30 or he`s back but out again

spoke to someone else i`ve got all the sizes here i`ll make sure i`ll ring you tomorrow and get them out tomorrow evening

today a big fat nowt :x

looks like i`ll be going elsewhere then
I'm quite suprised about that clogger...Jason at manflex seemed very keen on supplying sets to forum members :?

He made quite a list for all the clips (18 in all) He also took quite some time picking the EXACT sized clips for the job....

I'll be popping round there some time this week to pick up a set for another forum member,i'll check with him then....

Well still nothing to report, no coolant loss and all seems to be working ok :D , BDC has said hes seem to be ok as well. Quite boring really ,not a great deal i can say, except they work, and are nice to look at, blue pipes on my bongo to match my blue bongo. :D
Lost without my Bongo.

thats good to hear dave .....i take it you have been driving it ....and not just polishing the hoses   well i had a little leak on the bleed hose where it meets the tree(head) the clip was not as tight as it could be so tightened it and just in case put a clip on the bung end as well ....whether this needs to be there or not full time its too early to say ....the id(inner diameter)
on the bleed does need changing as there does seem to be more give in the silicone :-k

Seven extra !
Well ,I am happy enough with what I have for the present. I think that this would be a bit extreme as I cannot recall any reports of these hoses causing any problems. You have to be realistic and draw the line somewhere

Unfortunately i have experienced some coolant loss, but it's very difficult for me to judge at this time of year,as my bongo really gets very little use.

The problem was compounded by an intermittant loss of fluid,as a pattern was set, it seemed that hard motorway running was causing a small amount of coolant loss (i was alerted to this by haydn's alarm)

I suspected the bleed hose also, and did the same as flippa as a precaution.

After a 20 mile 90 mph...sorry...69.9mph run on the m6 last night,i ran the bongo into wheelquick, and straight onto mike's ramp...he spotted a small leak at the lower hose on the passenger side, and managed to get 6 complete turns on the jubilee clip bolt! After drying and ticking over for half an hour,no more leak was detectable \:D/

The real test would be another motorway run, then a careful check, but the roads have been heavily salted since yesterday, and i haven't sorted out a set of winter wheels yet...

I'll take her for a shakedown when the roads have dried

I'm 99.9% certain that mike found the leak
