Luckily, one or two peeps seem to understand this set up better than I & have sent the money as a gift, rather than services/goods or whatever. This seems to avoid the punitive charge.
This is news to me but then I never read instructions properly first time round. This information definitely needs to be made a sticky somewhere so we don't fall foul of the problem again.

				Apologies for ignorance. Mr M
£3.00 sent to compensate you. The gift option is not commission free. Just the sender can pay rather than the recepient. I paid 30p, cheaper than envelope and stamp. Worth sending a cheque if you are sending the full amount though.
Regards

A bit of an update. We have no chance of the train up, (or down!) Snowdon as the season starts the following weekend.
http://www.snowdonrailway.co.uk/news.php
This may change a few peoples mind as to whether to attempt the trek. I quite fancied the train up walk down personally & the old "war wound" probably wont allow me to walk the lot so - a reminder that there are plenty of cracking local options for those like me. Portmeirion
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Portmeirion, famed in The Prisoner is close & worth a visit if you like the absract, the Festiniog/West Highlands Railways
http://www.festrail.co.uk/ are at the bottom of the road - or - even if the weather is really shitty, Llechwydd Slate Caverns
http://www.llechwedd-slate-caverns.co.uk/ is a good underground day out.
Anymore ideas more than welcome.

Perhaps you could hire a Yak Munkey and ride it to the top of Snowdon alongside the Mountain Railway Line.

				Hi everyone,
More suggestions:- Caernarvon Castle, a little further is Harlech Castle. Views from both are fantastic(weather permitting of course)

				If anyone does fancy the
Dinorwig electric mountain the visitor centre is free of charge but there are tours (for a fee) which do operate on Saturday 14th. Currently there are no bookings been taken at all yet for that day. Tours normally start at 11am, noon, 2pm and 3pm. Team Muz are interested in going, anyone else and I'll book a slot for us all on the same tour. Any preference on the time?

I'm game to organise a walk from Pen y Pas up the Pyg track.
If the weather/conditions underfoot allow we could do Snowdon summit returning via Llewydd and the Miner's Track, if the weather/conditions underfoot are dodgy we could return at low level via the Miner's Track.
In either scenario proper boots and appropriate outerwear is essential.
Pen y Pas (at the very top of the Llanberis Pass) has the advantage of saving about 1,000ft of uphill/downhill walking.
