Over heating

they are aware of the bleed pipe under the passenger seat - even gave them the fact sheet.

It sounds as if they just left the engine to tick over for 20 minutes - it needs to be revved at 2500rpm for 6 minutes.

That's what it says but, logically, it should be up to let the air out.
There are people on here who have done it several times - hopefully they'll tell you how they did it.

hi if they are bleeding it correctly and its still over heating try the header tank cap, they some times leak and let the water out under pressure, but not on tick over ?

The bleed pipe should be unclipped from chasis and then looped over the steering wheel so that the pipe is raised but the u shaped end is pointing down. Place a bucket under the pipe to catch water that is burped from the engine.

There is loads to this bleeding and the fact sheet does not cover it all ( because of copy right i think )

It is best to invest in the nz repair manuals sheet that costs a fiver or if you plan to do other maintenance buy the workshop manual as its all in there.

It will not hold its water, when running. The garage are sure its the head. Not good news

Why did you have the waterpump replaced, did you have a overheating problem prior to pump replacement?

The waterpump was leaking. I have had overheating before, but not for a long time.

Unless you have had repetative overheating, I think it is still an airlock causing your problems. Are you sure you have no leaks to account for water loss ?

Haven't seen any leaks apart from when the waterpump was leaking. The garage have bled the system according to the manual.

I had lots of overheating problems, was told it was the head, the gasket, etc, but it was an airlock and a slow opening thermostat, plus lots of gunge in the coolant system, good luck with the testing
