Sorry ??, why have you changed the subject to the roadside you are beginning to confuse me a wee bitty.
At the road side or anywhere else I certainly would not hang a scalding hot hose from the mirror , I am very surprised that you or Mazda even suggest this.

There is a kit that uses the same idea as the 2l petrol version with an additional feed from the engine outlet then across to the normally blanked off cap on the top left of the de-gassing tank - be aware this ONLY bypasses the pipe that has to dip down under the firewall, which can also trap air. It does not appear to have much effect on removing air/gas trapped within the engine itself.


You have made this statement , not me , what would you suggest other than hanging a scalding hot hose from the mirror.
I do not wish to turn this into a stupid argument peoples safety must be respected.

OK last comment, it doesn't appear to be able to bleed the air out of the engine itself, it only acts as a bypass for the pipe that dives under the firewall.

Could you elaborate on this pipe that takes a dive, do you know its purpose and what it connect too , if anything.

Very good diagrams , Mr Widdowson has certainly spent a lot of time on the cooling system, had a quick look but having difficulty locating the pipe you refer too. Do you have any details of said pipe/hose .?

I believe there is some misunderstanding and therefore misinformation on my Bongo bleed-kits.

My kits connect the bleed-point on the cylinder head (diesel) or the cylinder block (petrol V6) using a pipe that travels upwards and connects just below the coolant tank.

Therefore any air trapped in the cooling system in the engine can travel upwards to the header tank and also coolant from the tank can travel downwards to replace the displaced air.

When filling the engine with coolant and the engine is started any trapped air warms up and expands increasing its' pressure. When the coolant tank cap is released any trapped air will rise upwards to the tank.

I can drain a diesel Bongo of coolant, fit a kit and refill in about 20 or 30 minutes.

The kits' idea isn't anything new, many vehicles come with degassing pipes from the factory
