These aftermarket rear foglights are garbage, I've just bought another for the van from a motor factors cost 3.99, I'll fit it when I've got it booked for the MOT. The hilux was the same, it needed a new light every year typical chinese junk. I opened this one up and you'd think it had been operated under the north sea as the guts were rotted with rust.

You could always incorporate a red lamp in the o/s reversing light ..

I changed the after market dangly one for a Hella flush fit into the rear bumper. Looks nicer in my opinion. Has been on three years and like new inside.

^^^ this
I've done the above. When we got the bongo it has one that dangled underneath, this caught a curb and broke off, so I bought a replacement. When fitting, I found there are multiple mounting holes or broken mounts where previous ones had done the same! I fitted it anyway, when it came to the next MOT, it failed as it didn't have a rear fog. I hadn't noticed it has been knocked off again!
So that time I put a red bulb in the OS reversing light and moved the wire up to power that. It has been like that for years since. If I'm honest I was never happy with the bulb as it looked pink but it kept pushing until last year when they said it was too pink. So I put an extremely bright red LED light in instead and now it looks great very happy with it and passed straight off on the MOT.
So much neater and works so well!, Costs a few quid for the bulb and a little bit of time.

I prefer to take a feed independent to any other lights, just straight to the switch .
How do you then meet this requirement...?
Ok forget the above, that is the requirement when importing it into the UK, but once it is imported it doesn't have to meet such strict standards.
MOT manual says
Front and rear fog lamps are permitted to operate independently of any other lamps or ignition systems.
The only other thing of interest was looking at the IVA, the fog light has to be over 250mm from the ground, I'm not sure the under bumper ones would actually meet that requirement.

It turns out it was a loose wire on the back of the switch
Had to take out the fuse box, steering wheel lower panel cover and get the plastic welding rods (cable ties) out to tidy up the wiring a bit (it was pulling from the main loom running down the drivers footwell trim), when I pushed the drivers side plastic panel by the throttle pedal - it was pulling the wire out of the switch.
Job done, thanks for the suggestions!

I could if I weren't an electrical numpty, mechanically I'll attack anything but I'm pretty hopeless with the electrics.
