Being honest Jilly it was just luck and hot weather that caused me to discover what, with hindsight, was an obvious trick. Doh! I daresay they could have been tougher to remove elsewise.
I was expecting it to be really hard to get them off (!) but once the first edge was levered off, the rest was easy. There was one that had to be manhandled with a screw driver as I recall.
