Well, after some heavy weeding and an evening with Excel and cheese I have managed to set up a sheet using Bills formulas and the answer is 42.mikeonb4c wrote:Bill here. Totally agree with Ben. A complex equation is needed to work out how green our travel habits are. First
(Polluting index of vehicle) x (1/years old) x ((rural miles per annum)+(urban miles travelled x 4)) / number of people being carried
..Ought to start covering the car handicap. Polluting index would need to be derived from volume and nastiness of noxious exhaust gases and particulates. We could also include indices for MPV usefulness/bulk-goods carrying capacity plus maybe another for green holidaying and lift sharing potential. Something could also be added for wellbeing and also for making and mending.
Another equation is needed to assess a person's greenness in relation to holiday habits. The car handicap could then be traded against holiday handicap.
Well, that's it from me. I'm off to the garden to do a few more weeds, bed a few more plants, and evict any unwelcome trolls i find lurking there.
