There is no "standard" battery tray, which is why when people ask I always say measure up first and then choose a battery with the largest capacity that fits the space. Myself I am using a "EXV100 Enduroline Leisure Battery 100Ah" from Tayna, but have heard reports of people just fitting 120AmpHr batteries.
One thing to note is that the bonnet structure has allowances in the frame work above the terminals so when you size the height its worth making sure you do have the maximum, but also consider insulated boots to cover the terminals just in case!

From looking at it I think I just have enough length and breath it's the depth that's catching me . The 80 amp battery will fit with out any problem but I'm more asking for the next time as it would be nice to have more amp storage for the wild camp

Glad it's sorted. It was bf member and car specialist Mikexgough who put me on to energy bull and I'm sure the extra cost is worth it. Don't blame you getting the smaller one - my larger one is a very marginal fit.

You could always get a solar panel or start the bongo for charging
But I have a 75ah good quality battery that I've had for years and that outlast 1 of the 110ah ones I have ( and that's a good brand )
The 75ah is as heavy as the 110

I was thinking that also and suspect that I'll look at fitting solar panels if i decide to go touring. Relying on a leisure battery alone for stops of any length strikes me as tricky once fridges etc get involved.

Well its said a decent leisure battery can run a waeco cf15 compressor fridge for 3 days but how decent is decent and what happens when you find out it isn't, late evening when it's anti social to run your engine to recharge it

Yes
I get 4 -5 days with lights, radio , charging 4 phones and DVD player , and abit of tv in the evenings
With a 100w solar panel i now have I leave site with more charge in battery than when I arrived
But I don't use a 12v fridge
Good 110ah battery

I've done tests (the graph is on my site on the main page:
http://solarcampersolutions.co.uk/index ... or-campers ) and a 100w panel will run a compressor fridge, lights, phone charging, radio use - essentially regular camping use, for... indefinietly in the summer - you end up with a full battery each day at around 10 am.
In fact, those tests were done with an 80w panel so 100watts gives you even more breathing room.
