No they did not show me the old head as I did not have time to go down to the Garage as I was working through the holidays and did not get back to the garage until after the new year.
You put your trust in people to do a good job but there is always one that will con you I have been down to garage and had it out with him he will never get my custom again.
Yes I changed the smaller hoses also hoses to the turbo.
As I said in my earlier reply you learn by your mistakes sometimes costly ones.

You do indeed. Hindsight is a wonderful thing but not very useful. Best just to move on i've found and as you are doing. Good luck sorting it and keep us posted.

Looking at those two pipes, now I am in work, I can see they are different bore sizes, so that theory is trashed now.
Reading your original post again just to clarify the cylinder head kit you refer to was that a new/recon head or a complete head gasket set?
If it was another head do you suspect he hasnt fitted it or that he may have damaged the replacement?

I know how that feels after a burst radiator & having spent £1500 on new radiator, hoses, water pump, cambelt etc, to discover when I got it back the head gasket was blown and the garage failed to notice? All has to be done again!

It is common when a vehicle is overheating not only to remove a thermostat but some peeps drill a hole in it ! another less common problem is a numpty inserting a stat the wrong way if that is possible on a Bongo? ??
A Bongo is for life, not just for Christmas
