I thought that myself but given the long shot I dismissed it, I will keep this in mind tho!rita wrote:Alas new thermostats have bee found to be faulty.
The secret in fault finding is "Not what has been Done" but "Needs to be done".
Good Luck.

Good call mate and I have written that down for him tomorrow.teenmal wrote:I think the simplest thing to do would be to check that the diverter flaps inside the heater box are operating as they should. If ok then check the Coolant Flow and Temperature In and Out of the heater Matrix.
What temperature is the engine coolant running ?.

Re: IS IT WORTH IT
you can feel the 2 hoses that feed the heater on the bulkhead
one will be a tad colder than the other, but only a bit
if its much colder your heaterr rad is blocked and needs a good back flush,or renewing

If the van is changing over to LPG quicker that would indicate that the LPG evaporator is heating up quicker. This may still further suggest an air lock limiting the movement of water within the system some where perhaps.

Hopefully all will be reveled tomorrow as the van is back in the garage with a list of what to look for from all the good suggestions of the forum.
I took notes on them all. The van had not had a good run since the work was done so this morning I checked the header tank first which was between the full and low marks which is two mornings it has needed a top up. Then took it along to Blyth and back up to the garage (about 10 miles) the temp stayed at normal but the heater front and back were cool. The van was running like a dream never missed a beat and I very much doubt that the head gaskets are at fault.
Last night I was getting warmer air from the rear but today it is all cold again?
Was the header tank low in the mornings because an air lock had released itself over night?
is the new thermostat faulty ? if so would this stop the heating, yes if it was jammed open I suppose but the temp needle is raising to norm which is triggering the LPG switch as it should so I doubt this is the problem.
The rear heater matrix was replaced two months ago along with the two long steel pipes but the front one has never been touched, does this need replacing ? could this be a symptom or a cause?
we will just have to wait and see! Stay posted
