Or were you waving the machete shouting, "Where's that Wisbech *€$^%+*

". ?

Yes they search the bongo and the caravan
There mainly looking for glass items
But they do get inside and have a good root about
If they confiscated any thing you can collect it from security after festival ( or police if it's your weed )
Hence hide your axe and machette well decant your gin into plastic bottle
In a camper or caravan you pitch outside the super fence
So you also get searched every time you go into the festival

Seems very over the top and must cause quite a delay in getting into the fields, I guess I will be taking cans and plastics then and stash whatever in bedding/roof/clothes. Ive read about being searched going in and out of the festival as well which is going to be a nightmare but just as well I am a good boy

I'm not going, so just curiosity, but can you take your own drink in, say a wine box, or do you have to buy it all on site?
(Or be inventive.)

Most festivals allow you to take your own drink in cans , plastic containers, boxed but usually no glass. Some don't allow you to take drinks from the camping area into the main festival area (V for example or at least the last time I went) but I'm not sure about Glastonbury, I assume it is fine as the I believe the tents are already within the wall so will be hard to police but things may have changed as I haven't been for 17 years

Yes you can take your own drink in
Just no glass
Yes it does take a while to get in through the security search
I overnighted 2 miles away last year night before it started
Still took me 7 hours to do the 2 miles to get in ( that was a bad year )
Usually que for a couple of hours in bongo to get on site
