Know i am reserecting an old post, but does the acetone trick work. Will it stop a leaking injector pump.
Do you just add it to the tank and will 100% acetone nail varnish remover be ok.
Feel a bit stupid asking
I wouldn't trust it to and it could be deleterious to other parts. These old Bongos need a bit of proper tlc and this is a common area for needing it. If tbe seals are leaking, reolace them.

someone who races/builds cars taught me the trick, he ran on 100% veg oil for nearly ten years on these bosch copy pumps. mine was leaking at the side seals so i replaced those, then mine started leaking at the valve block large seal, so i bought an old pump on ebay to strip it down and examine the internals, thats when i ended up with a bucket of bits   , this taught me a good lesson. i thought i would try the acetone.

dont know if you have read this link but it never leaked for the next 7 years i owned the bongo.

Hi playnotwork,

I did try the acetone treatment at the dosage recommended on this forum. It made no difference to my leaks.
I had the pump refurbished by a specialist company straight away afterwards.
Regards.

i just went to a good chemist and ordered a little medicine bottle size bottle for a quid or two and tipped half the bottle to a quarter of a tank of fuel. never needed the second half. :)
