You could try taking it to campers Scotland in Grangemouth they are bongo specialists and do servicing and repairs as well as retail. Train station is nearby.

This isn't being over thought is it ?
It was heavy driving rain, it couldn't just be water up over the distributor, especially as it would have been on LPG at that point causing it to cut out ?
The Hold button just being pressed in error as implied in the explanation.

Are the engine under shieldss in place as the TDC sensor is also vulnerable to road spray ..??

Owing to the fact that the stalling seems to occur at the same time as the Hold light illumination I would be inclined to look for an auto box mal function. The possibility is that the converter or solenoids are not disengaging, (like driving a Manual vehicle and not pressing the clutch when the vehicle stops)it would be worthwhile having a Specialist doing a test scan on the box.
PS assuming that the fluid and filter are ok.

If there was an actual problem with the box wouldn't the TCM be objecting and Flashing the Hold light ? OK it may not see all possible faults, but for the fault to be bad enough to cause it to stall then I would have thought an error would have been present ....

Engine under shields are in place, however in the 4 years of ownership, the transmission oil has not been changed nor has the filter been changed, checked every 3 months, no leaks, fairly reddish no burnt toast smell, however had it not been sold on to the new owner (thriller) my 2 jobs for 2016 were to have been replace the hoses on the coolant system and, drop the sump on the gearbox and clean out the filter and change the transmission oil. From what I can gather it was driven all the way from Durham to Edinburgh without an issue, no flashing hold light or engine stall.

Hi Geoff, one of the reasons for my reply was...
When I spoke to you on Sunday
it had cut out twice in a short space of time. Both times
the van seemed to shudder and then I lost all power
both these times the "hold" light flashed but I didn't notice how many times.

Ah may have missed that

Must admit its not clear having re-read the thread if it was On or Flashing at various points, always a problem with intermittent things like this.

Haven't heard from "thriller" since he posted last week Geoff, so it may be the fault has disappeared for the time being, it's very difficult with an intermittent fault waiting for the hold light to start flashing.
