Re: Sills full of water !
Hi
BB123...
Expect road salting??? that's being hopeful!
It would be far better teaching people to drive properly rather than asking the country to pamper the damn' roads.
I think the way society is today, passing a driving test is a right of passage....literally, and I think there's plenty on the road that shouldn't be there. It isn't a right , human or otherwise , that people get a driving license and I think that people who drive drunk, injure someone seriously / kill someone in a car , or people who habitually clock up speeding tickets , should be banned for life!
Cheers
Helen

Ideally both but yes there are some massively inconsiderate and arrogant, uncaring drivers on the roads. Every single time I get in a car I see them, without fail.
They call me light foot.

Hi
There are laws in the UK, and every other country, and owning a car doesn't mean you can do what the hell you like. Stiffer penalties and life bans. I want to get in a vehicle, enjoy the journey, and not have my life put in danger by some arrogant mad thing, or someone using a damn' 'phone. A year ban for using a GSM, and 5 years next time. ALSO, anyone with 2 offences gets a minimum £1000.00 pound car insurance for the cheapest category, increasing by £300.00 per category, and that to remain for a 5 year period. The difference in the real insurance rate goes to the county police department, as with all other fines....time to get the American system into play and have the police department self-funding.
Cheers

I happen to agree with all of that. Driving is a serious business and the bufoonery of many drivers is beyond comprehension and angering. It comes down to selfishness, ignorance and an attitude of being invincible.
On every journey I do on any M way I typically see:
Drivers swerving in front of me across 3 lanes no indicator.
Vehicles with drivers who are incapable of overtaking me without being perilously close to my car.
Drivers who cannot keep their vehicle in their own lane.
Drivers speeding in fast lane.
Drivers doing 40-45mph (ok there is slow and there is insanely dangerous)
HGV's lurching out in front of you and other drivers (even in wet heavy spray conditions).
Drivers that wobble and cannot drive in a straight line. HGV's included.
Drivers that do not take into account hills (do not read road), slowing down and speeding up.
Tailgating.
People who are too lazy to turn their neck and actually look at the road they are joining (usually at inappropriate speed)
Drivers who are too good a driver to bother to indicate.
Normal roads :
Drivers of 4x4 type cars who cannot keep the god damn thing on their side of the road (oncoming) Don't drive a car too big than your skill level can handle you gormless idiots.
People pulling from inside to outside lane on roundabout, no indicator across all 3 lanes, foot down.
Speeding on country roads/lanes.
Genralizing is obviously wrong but it is hard to ignore that there does seem to be a disproportional number of German car drivers who drive like jumped up twats. Audi's, VW's, Mercedes, BMW's. Clearly they have some delusional superiority complex.
They call me light foot.

Hi
BB123
And all of the above are on a good day in Bulgaria...they are very dangerous over here...and it doesn't pay to get angry...they are armed....when did you last have a gun pointed at you as they overtake ????!!!....AND lorries drive right up your ass when they want you to move it...often about a foot away from your bumper.....Turks do it all the time...AND they blast their truck horns at you....BUT....now there are speed cams everywhere!, so when I know where there is one, I slow right down, and make 'em overtake for the camera!!!!!
....and when I know where there is a hill and no camera....oh boy, I slow down and listen as they frantically change down....then I floor it...especially if I have the water/ methanol injection turned on....so that I can get well away from them in the fast speed limit!.....Driving is very hazardous here, but you just get used to it!
Cheers

Goodness - I think we need to salt this thread. We seem to have slipped off it altogether (as we too often do)

Hi
Oh, shoot, it sure ain't fun....these beggars will run you off the road...I don't know anyone who hasn't been run into the kerb!....I had one crazy git behind me one day, and it was my piece de resistance!!!!....there was an English truck in front, and Mr. Git behind....I managed to indicate to the truck that we were English, and as the rig met the traffic in front, he slowed down gently....Mr. Git tried overtaking me, and I closed right in on the UK lorry, so he couldn't get in...The whole line of traffic slowed, and MR. Git was stuck in the oncoming traffic.....A huge truck was coming t'other way and getting VERY close to Mr. Git, whose knuckles were seen whitening on the steering wheel, and his eyes were widening (Tony was giving me running commentary), as Mr. Git was parallel with us.....FINALLY, Mr. Git sat transfixed as though in a trance....pure white bloodless face, and eyes standing out like chapel hat-pegs, as the truck coming towards him drew within inches of his bumper...he was motionless (apart from that in his trousers).....oh, shoot... I bet the car ponged like a Turkish Khazi after he dropped his breakfast on the seat....We moved off and I had tears rolling down my cheeks....while he had other matter on his cheeks.....I still see that face!!!
Cheers
