As it starts on petrol then switches to gas when the evaporator is warmed up it should be firing on all six .. BUT .. LPG is more demanding on the ignition being 100% OK than when running on petrol .. one of the reasons NGK recommend closing the plug cap from 1.1mm to 1.0mm and running a colder plug to dissipate the heat from the head more quickly when using LPG ..
The sparkies are such an easy job to change my 12 year old grand son could change them .. why not just fit six new ones and eliminate them from .."Maybe it's" the .. ??

I've replaced the ignition coil, distributor cap, rotor arm, 7 HT leads (Mazda ones) and spark plugs (standard ones, not LPG ones) and it's solved the power loss problem. Thanks for everybody's help.

A few months ago I noticed that sometimes when I pressed the accelerator it was stuttering and not producing much power. It seemed to be when it was a damp day. This was on LPG, if I switched to petrol that seemed to cure it. Then I’d switch back to LPG after a few minutes.
But it got worse and for about the last month it seems to have permanently lost power still stuttering but also constant power loss. Getting up hills is a struggle. This is using petrol or LPG although sometimes switching to petrol seems to help a bit but sometimes not. Also it’s knocked the fuel efficiency down by about 1/3 I’d say. Also if it's been straining to get up a hill and I stop at the top there's a strange smell. The only thing I can compare it to is the wax used for waxing leg hair with! Also the last week or so it's sometimes struggled to start. I have to turn the key for 10 - 20 seconds. The gearbox seems fine but it's having to kick down the gears a lot to get enough power.
I took it to my local mechanic, he said he'd checked all the basics and everything was fine. He's put a engine cleaner in the petrol tank and told me to run it on petrol for a week and see if it gets better but I'm not hopeful. He said if not he'll have another look but the remaning things to check are the expensive things.
Has anybody got any idea what might be wrong with it so I could give my mechanic some pointers? Thanks.
Not sure this will help but I have had a similar problem for the last three weeks. All the gas indication lights flash on and off periodically. When gas tank was empty I ran on petrol and went into the garage to fill up with petrol as it was low (no gas available) when I came back and started the engine all the gas lights lit up as if I had filled the gas tank not the petrol tank??? WIERD OR WHAT??
I took it back yesterday for the gas installation team yesterday o have a look at it. They said it was a low gas pressure issue which causes rough running. It's booked in tomorrow to get sorted. If it happened mostly on gas then start looking there first.
