Yes they paid out £4500 I had it insured at £5500 for a year and 2 weeks
I paid 5250 for it and I keeped the awning and annexe all the water rollers ,pumps batterys, changed the LED lights to me new caravan
Took the fridge out sold that for 130
Sold the awnings for 280
Motormover sold for 251

So I should think at the end few more bits to sell from it yet
I will be a £200
Out of pocket after buying the new one for £5600
But that is 5 years newer

They paid and collected the old one about 4/5 weeks after it went bang
Quite a fast thing really
Am pleased with the service from aa caravan insurance

He put brand new ones on
But I'm going to replace them with some more heavy duty ones after Xmas
Thinking off road tyres maybe BFG all terrains
and will look into a set of those run flat inserts
And when I win the Lottery also some tyre pressure monitor alarms

AT's will be very noisy, I had these on my Landy and you could not hear yourself talking in the cab? There only ever any good on power wheels

I had BFG all terrains on my defender 90
I found them fine
It was a noisy beast tho
200tdi with Ali sport inter cooler , straight through stainless exhaust , tricked fuel pump and oversized tyres
Mainly set up for road towing
The MT s mud ones on my mates were a right racket and I swear they rattled your teeth at speed on the road,

Don't know if they do the correct size for me caravan in ATs
But I got thousands of miles out of them

Fit Tyron bands to the wheels as well

Is that them run flat stop the tyres falling off band things that go inside tyres
I hear there about £150 ish
I will look into them after Xmas
Getting a bloody expensive set of caravan tyres
But cheaper than a uninsured right off

saw a caravan last week in a layby leaning hard to the left went over with my emergency tyre foam/repair kit but tyre was shredded It seems that when caravan tyres go they self destruct for some reason. perhaps its because of the time & distance travelled before the driver realised what's happened

Yes you don't notice
I followed my mate his went flat and shredded same as mine we had no phone signal
It was miles before the idiot noticed me flashing and honking
He was in a mondeo didn't notice a thing

A spare wheel is the answer but I suppose people would rather leave the room for more beer and sausages than carry a spare

I had a spare
But when I got the spare on at the side of the m5 ( that's fun having a lorry zoom passed when the caravan is on a trolley jack )
It's was obvious the axle had moved forward and it was very close to the spike of the motor mover
Which was what punctured the old wheel
So it was a flat bed
If I wasn't at the side of the motorway I'd of slung a strap around it and tried to pull it back in place
But all sorted now

Hi one of the reasons for buying my Bongo was to tow an old car on a trailer to events. The combined weight of the two is 1500 kilos. Reading all your advice, it would appear that I'm well within the legal limit, but does anyone have experience of towing that weight behind a Bongo? I've a twin axle Brian James car trailer. Thanks.

Our caravan is 1600 kgs max weight, no probs with a diesel.

The 2 ltr petrol might puff a bit but you're well in legaly.

That nails it for a V6 then! happy days. Now we have decided on a motor-home and keep the Bongo as a day van. we will wait until the end of the season when prices and sales are lower, buy private and hope we can get someone's pride and joy for the right price

I've not towed with a V6 but I recon it would be fine.

The 4 cyl 2 ltr would know you had that weight behind.
