Check out caravan storage, it works out far less than I thought, then you could have a full size jobby for less money.

Good advice Bob, hadn't put my lateral thinking hat on. Folding caravans on ebay didn't look stupidly expensive but I wonder if they require more TLC than a conventional caravan. I'd be hoping to keep it in the garage so not so obvious if we're away, but then again the garage would be u/s as a workshop if I did that so......its only a pipe dream anyway.

My mate got a folding caravan off eblay last year £150 with awning
They do turn up cheap once in a while as there small people can just leave them on there drive and forgot them
Then they look a mess and they get rid
But the ones I've seen may be old but seem well built and clean up well

Before buying our Bongo we had a (very) late model ABI Adventurer. It was one of the white ones with blue cupboards/checked upholstery as in this video.

The ladder and reinforced roof rack were designed to carry surfboards. It was so light it could be towed by a couple on a tandem

I built one last year, initially planned to tow behind my Morris Minor. We had a baby and sold the pod before I got to use it as I sold my car (funds dictated as such!)
Nowhere near as neat as yours mind. I went with a fully opening rear hatch as I didn't to feel too enclosed, the matress was over 6 foot in length to make sure I would be comfortable. I also ripped out the insides of a Tilley lamp and wired it up with hidden led's so that it looked standard, but wasn't. Also hooked up a couple of early Morris Minor sidelight lenses to the hatch so that they came on automatically when you opened it, also acted as a downlight at night.
Twas great fun to build.
