Thanks, that helps.

I was adding an extra zero.

Which date is it then? The shorter bold black date at the top or the full smaller-print date further down?

The one at the top is when the model series started production. The smaller print date is the day your Bongo rolled off the production line.

Oh thanks Ian,

With that in mind, my lovely old Freda, which I have owned and still run and which has been maintained by Allans here in Plymouth for 10 years, rolled off the line on 27.11.95.

:D

I love her dearly

Our Bongo is 21.11.95. It is a 4WD diesel AFT and is in amazing condition according to the Bongo mechanic. It has only done 50K miles so we are hoping will last us a good few years yet. One of our best purchases by far!

All these Bongo's mentioned so far are diesel. I am putting in a claim for the oldest petrol. My V6 was first registered in Japan on 1st October 1995 at Kochi, Shikkoku Island, Japan. The Russian site gives Release Date as 11/10/1995, which fits with a last registration date of 12/10/2006.

As very few early petrol's were imported and mine was one of the first in Bongo Fury. VIN No SG5W ***589 it will put up a good challenge.

OK, here's the definitive list. Going through club member records, and cross referencing with the Russian website, we get the following information.

Munroman wins the oldest known Bongo award
New Forest Terrier's Bongo is the oldest known petrol Bongo in the UK

The full list can be seen in this PDF: http://www.igmaynard.co.uk/bongo/history.pdf
