if your up to it you could get under the front and grab the pulley, or get a bar and see if you can move it either forward or backwards, (be gentle). or get the garage to drop the under tray then get them to take a look. it may just be alternator belts worn smooth and skiding so let them have a look round.

I was talking about this earlier with my other half and she pointed out that when we got the burning smell it was also overheating by 5 degrees or so, hence why at the time I was really confused about why overheating would cause a burning rubber smell. So the pulley having come apart does stand to reason. I've not had an issue with power but with solar panels on, I wouldn't have notice a drop in charge at least. Before ordering I will have a check about, I can do all that stuff but I don't think I'll be up to lying on my back undoing that massively tight bolt!
