Hi
I was only thinking of the old Landy air filter the other day...and as stated, the K&N relies partly on a similar idea, as the oil quickly grabs particulate matter, reducing the area of passage available for harmful particles. Minor particles that can get through, are only small light particles which will burn...especially at diesel combustion temperatures. Standard paper filters clog very quickly, and I'd always prefer oiled foam / K&N....
