no problem mate i work through the week so weekend is best, i will check as im on a winter weekend on call rota, i will get back to you this week for poss next weekend fit.

on the rad are the fans these are mounted via little bolts into captive nuts fitted into the rad top and bottom, these bolts hardy ever come out without damage they are item number 90796-0616 in this drawing. if you can get a dozen nuts and bolts or so they are worth getting, you can remove one out of the existing rad for size, if you get them too long they will cut into the rad when fitting so take care when buying.

Hi All,

Just to let you know my radiator problems have been resolved thanks to Northern Bongolow (Ady), and Ian.
I bought a new stat and radiator from Ian, and they arrived very promptly. Then Ady came to my home and
fitted both to my bongo, and bled my van. We also refilled the van with new coolant.

The stat was a new part that Ady hadn't used before, so it was interesting to see how this all worked out.
On two runs yesterday, and today the van is running 10 degrees cooler than previously. I am measuring
this using my TM1 temp gauge, which has been reliable to date. Obviously and lowering of engine temp
is a good thing.

This looks to be a perfect fix for anyone else having radiator problems.

Fabulous result and amazing support from Ady. I've always thought that a new radiator and stat would be a good investment where there is any suspicion the engine might be running hot. How many heads and gaskets might have been saved I wonder

Also consider a cooling system flush as if that has not been done and the coolant has not been changed every 2 years regularly it can be quite murky in there.That's the thing where does it end when you have 1 problem? Glad you are on the road to recovery.

It does make sense to try and get as much done as possible (within your existing budget) cause it can cost double getting a garage to do 1 smaller job next time round, pulling everything apart and bleed labour time. Not to mention the inconvenience to you for any Bongo outing plans

We did replace the coolant too.
put some in that's good for 5 years.
