Constant pressure really should be better in principle, being self adjusting, and I would suggest trying these as Haydn has dealt with a hose or two in his time.

Norma make many different types of clamp, many of which are worm drive like the Jubilee brand.

Ian has just got me a genuine Mazda rear heater blanking kit and it uses these type of clamps which looks like it will allow for a small degree of expansion.

Absoluticus righticus, Mike.....as they used to say in Roman Times when jubilee clips were used to hold the wheels on their chariots (beggar all good for anything else)
The thing often forgotten is that Bongos were made for the Japanese home market, and there are colossal temperature differences between winter up Norf, and summer down Sarf...much like over here...Tighten up your jubilee clips in summer,and with the winter contraction in hose stubs, you'll be tiddling antifreeze in winter. The Norma clips (the constant pressure ones), and the Mazda Mikalor clips allow for the expansion and contraction, keeping your hoses as snug as a bug in a rug....other clips fail miserably...PROVEN

Thanks for all he info guys going try the Norma clamps , if all else fails might change the rad doesn't look to big of a job .

Just out of interest anybody changed all the hoses to silicon.

Silicone hoses didn't work very well people had probs with them from what I've heard

Or was it the clips ?

Silicon hoses were a bit of a no-no. The first few were O.K. but subsequently the others who bought (myself included) had problems. In fairness, the hoses are hand-made on mandrels, and as production went ahead after the initial trial few, the rest were probably made a little slack for ease of removal from the mandrel, because time is money when producing a run for a given price. They were made in China, so I guess their adherence to the initial quality run was possibly not as good. I found that a number of the smaller hoses were a very easy wobbly fit, and there was risk of seepage, so those of us in a similar position junked the whole lot and replaced with Mazda originals...which should be good for another 15 years if fitted properly WITH MAZDA ORIGINAL clips...however, the clips recommended by Haydn also seem to have done the job well...other folk have used Mazda original hoses and jubilee clips, but with a bit of disappointment for some...This has been borne out over a considerable period of testing
Note:
No European cars were killed or maimed during this testing

It was the hoses that caused the problems.
Jub clips may well do the job with original hoses but constant pressure clips are better.

McClaren racing bought my whole stock of NORMA clips some years ago as they had run out..
That's recommendation enough for me.....
NORMA clips must not be over tightened. The odd problem reported was solved by backing them off a turn or so. Overtightening them reverts them to the level of a jub clip

Which type of Norma clip would you recommend as there are quite a few variations? I had a set of silicon hoses and never had any problems, but I know not everyone was so fortunate. As Mazda hoses are readily available I would definitely go that route in future as you know they will be of good quality.
