- Anywhere between min and max is fine, but the general advice is to set it on the max level when cold.
- If you don't know what type of anti freeze you currently have, the safest option is to top it with tap water. Mixing coolant of different types (typically blue/green and red) can cause a nasty gunge to form.
- Consider getting coolant drained, system flushed and refilled with new coolant before the winter. It should be changed every two years unless you have used a longlife type which is usually good for 5 years.
- Get your coolant alarm fitted before you go to France as it won't do any good sat in the drawer at home ;). While the V6 is less prone to overheating, it shares many of same cooling components as the diesel and a rubber hose can leak, or steel pipe corrode at any time whatever type of engine you have.
