I will see how I get on. Sat nav is in and out on my other car.. never a blown fuse ever. Not wishing to go against good advice but this argument does not seem to have any logic to it considering a satnav and temp are very low power devices compared to heating a red hot element up.

Yes, it's meant to be used for lighting cigarettes . It's not the load that causes the problem, it's the plug being inserted or removed at a slight angle that causes the spring loaded contacts on the side to short out both parts of the socket. A cigarette lighter element is a much better fit than a flimsy plastic plug so is less prone to shorting out.

Not here to argue will bear that in mind.

Had a chance to go for a run today and did a round town stop start drive for 6-7 miles and the Bongo hit 90C at it's highest reading. So I imagine based on that that setting the alarm for 93C would be about right. Of course I can adjust it as I do more and different mileage and see if it changes.

Does 90C seem about normal operating temp for Bongo.

Yep...seems o.k. But set it for 98C....that is still well within limits and it will stop you having the odd heart attack cos if it hits 93 that is also well within limits and going uphill you may well reach 95c, again that would be o.k.
What you don't want is the alarm to keep going off when there is nothing amiss...cry wolf and all that

Just set the alarm and it will always alarm at that set temp. They come set at 100c

Highest temp hit 97C on long prolonged upward M-way hill on a hottish day so put it to 99C now. Seems to sit around 94-96C typically.

Sorry to resurrect an old thread but thought better than starting a new one. I am about to embark on fitting a TM-1 combi unit. It is going in the lower (large) cubby hopefully. With regard to the cable routing for the temperature sensor, do you go drivers side or passenger side? I see the photo of the slot in the seat housing (is that at the front of the seat or the rear?)

As you can probably tell, I haven't had it all apart yet and am just gathering info. Alarm due to arrive in next couple of days.

I went thru the middle which is perfect if you are mounting it in the cubby hole as you can drill a hole at the rear to pass the cables thru: http://www.igmaynard.co.uk/bongo/forum/ ... er#p619824
