I totally agree with you about what happens in industry. I designed and worked to British Standards to keep clear of prosecution, not that I agreed with some of it and argued my case with regulators. I found most of them without basic engineering understanding of the regulations they were implementing.
We may not always agree but we have fun and hopefully learn as we go.
