Just fit a Momo or Nardi leather wheel and boss from an older MX5 to an early non- airbag Bongo. There are lots around. I fitted one a week after getting my van a good few years ago as I didn't like the feel or look of the standard plastic job

I went with the easier option of an mx5 momo wheel only to find out it was too shallow and I kept catching my knuckles on the indicator stalks. Instead of getting a new deeper wheel/boss I Sold it to a lad in work and now have an rx8 wheel instead.
I've had a quick test fit and all seems well but I am unsure how to sort the horn out, any tips?

Fitting the MX5 Nardi wheel felt strange to me at first too and I kept hitting the stalks and thought that I had made a big mistake mistake but after a week I had got used to it and it has never proved to be a problem since

I had a nardi wheel on my first bongo and that was fine too, different wheels and bosses have different depths (which I didn't realise before). The one I had recently was pretty much unusable the way it was
Saying that the RX8 feels nice, I just need to sort the horn wire :S

I'm having a few problems installing on the old shape bongo.
The wheel fits the splines fine and feel much better than the original wheel, but...
The indicator centering bits are at 12 and 6oclock on one wheel and 3 and 9oclock on the other wheel, I'm pretty sure I can sort this by carefully drilling some new holes in the back of the wheel, so not too big a problem.
The horn on the old wheel uses a spring loaded mech that grounds on the back of the wheel itself, to get around this I bought an rx8 clockspring and connected the relevant wire up (which works) but I can't get the clockspring itself to fit inside the steering column cover. Either I need to somehow hack into the clockspring and see if I can cut it down to fit or I need to somehow attach the metal ring off the old wheel to the back of the RX8 wheel (although I haven't quite worked out how yet).
Has anyone else had trouble with this? I'm half tempted to just add a push button horn on the dash but I'd prefer to get it working properly through the steering wheel
