I'm new to Bongo's and new to this forum, but I've always loved BBQ's, so thought I'd show off my rocket stove.
Cooks on just a few twigs, designed as an efficient way of cooking in poor countries. Made just from tin cans, pop rivets and ash for insulation.

No sorry, might have to wait till next summer now
Hard work to keep in burning for a long time and only takes an average size frying pan. So tend to use a cast iron pan on it for eggs and bacon (and coffee), more than a full BBQ.

This was my effort with some bean cans and a beer keg, sand and exhaust putty - difficult to keep in but I've boiled water on it for a brew at least.

I’ve been keeping the initial post on this thread updated with additional ideas. But last weekend I noticed how hot the table was getting even though there’s a fair gap under the barbie. So I got to thinking about sticking a small grill pan under to do those melted cheese dishes you just can’t do without a grill


Toast is easy….


Stick some ham & cheese on and slide it under the barbie while you’re still cooking regular barbie food….


….wait until the cheese is melted….


….assemble the rest of the sandwich….


….more cheese on top and back under….


….and I give you….

I'm a member of the WI, and last year at our annual camping fest i cooked Chicken and spinach curry, Vegetable Curry, chickpea and lentil daal, bbq'd paneer and assorted sides for 35 people on a cadac safari chef, 2 ring burner and a BBQ

I see lots of fresh inspiration here for this year ..... i'm thinking a chili cookout

I don't recall ever seeing that. Absolutely brilliant. Shouldn't a limited print run be done and the book made available via the Bongo Shop? I mean if Amazon can move from books into everything else, surely BF can move from Bongo bits into books? Come on Ian - you could be the next Rupert Murdoch, possibly running the BBC in 11 years when the TV license is reviewed
