yeah i know my mate who works for the aa is going to come round in the new year and test the cooling water for combustion gases and go from there
Hi hammy,a pressure test on the cooling system wont normally show that the head is cracked, when the engine is running it produces a tremendous amount of pressure on the head, you could never replicate this with a normal coolant pressure test.hammy67 wrote:had a test done on the cooling system the system was pressurised for 3 hours with no drop in pressure however the coolant shows signs of combustion gases in it so looks like head or gasket gone again what i dont understand is if a crack in the head or failed gasket how would the cooling system still hold pressure when testealso not sure why the head/gasket should have failed again with only about 2000 miles done since it was replaced all the cooling system is in tip top condition and always bleed correctly only hiccup has been the water pump had a small leak which i caught even before the header tank had emptied and never drove the bongo until i had fitted a new one
