Thanks Geoff, as per above tho, my error was error 7 speed sensor 2 which looking at the service manual suggests to test when idling or engine on/off so wouldn't that be the 'other' sensor on the engine somewhere (i.e to test the sensor on the transmission output, you'd have to be moving..and the test in the manual for moving relates to speed sensor 1..) confused

gotcha..thanks. I actually had the speedo off today to check the mph gizmo having read the other threads...all seems sensible and secure there (infact they even left a crimp on the original wire so that it could be easily unplugged and reconnected to read kph again!). I think given that my speedo seems to read good and that is fed from the sensor on the transmission, it must be the other speed sensor on the engine I need to trace..
