Hi Kev, any chance you could post a photo of what yours looks like? It may help someone identify which bits you're missing.

I'll take a look at ours tomorrow and see what shape it is. - Just looked as I already had some photo's and its the same as in the photo earlier two single arm's on on the actuator and one on the spindle itself rather than the "rocker" like piece in the diagram
I do agree the part in the photo does look a bit different, but I think I might just have a look in the junk box to see what could be made to fit, or simply shape a bit of plastic which could be used to replace it.

To be honest Kev, the schematics are a little tricky to decipher... It better to go by the model year & location of the part, then get the part number from the (crudely drawn in some cases) shape of the part... Even the similar year European Mazda & Ford schematics of other models with the same parts are just as badly drawn, not always a true representation....

Try disconnecting the servo from the flap in the passenger side foot-well & moving the pivot by hand (i think forward?) with the engine up to temp & see if you get heat from the vents...?

That would work Jamie. I did a similar thing on the linkage in the drivers foot well while I was waiting for the parts to arrive.

pretty certain that side, passenger, controls the heat flow, the drivers side "Mode" controls direction.

As Geoff said, 61-A20 is the same as shown in the pic. Just looks a bit odd cos of the angle. Looks as if it comes as a kit of parts.

Gents,thanks for the continued advice,I have identified,as suggested ,that 61-A20 looks the likely kit of parts but there seems to be 2 to choose from.
I have been trying to work out how the distribution flap actually i.e what externally,that the actuator is attached to by the linkage,actually moves the flap,I wanted to try,as suggested,moving the flap manually but can't get either of the obvious parts to move.
I do now have a photo of the current state of the passenger side linkage but,if I'm honest,I don't know how to attach the photo.
Any assistance please.

Its obvious the arm is missing but just can't work out what. I have to do manually to get the mixer flap to work.

Not only is the white plastic arm missing, it looks like the spindle for the vane internally has been pushed inside the casing, either that or possibly sheared off ?
Are you able to get any pliers on the spindle and pull it back out ?

Otherwise it may mean opening up the box and pushing it back out - unless it has been sheared off, the metal end looks very rough ?

Yes you've confirmed what i thought Geoff,that is the spindle for the mixer flap and I assumed that it had sheared off because it is rough.I did try and turn it with water pump pliers but just succeeded in chewing up the spindle a bit more! So I guess I will need a new flap as well as the linkages.I assume that the bwhite linkage is attached to the spindle with a screw or small bolt?

The spindle has a flat and a notch in the flat at the top which the plastic indent catches on.

Thanks for that,it looks very much like the top piece has broken off then.What concerns me is that I can't turn the flap manually as I assume it is help in various positions by the actuator dependant on the temp setting so the flap must be sneezed or damaged and it looks like a bit of a task to strip the assembly down to get at it.
Any more ideas/advice?

I've been trying to imagine how on it could have been snapped off! Its not exactly in a place where a foot could kick it, nor does it stick out particularly far to get much leverage on it.
As to how to replace, really not sure, it might be easier to get a complete unit from a breaker and replace it as a whole, the entire heater box, especially given the violence that might have been applied to break the shaft in the first place, there may be further damage that your not aware of inside maybe - just a thought! Perhaps Ady's breaker of choice can do a unit at sensible cost ?

Hi Geoff,I'll give the breakers ago,what's the contact for Ady,s.
It may not be snapped off but it's difficult to see close up.
I,m inclined to think someone has damaged it trying to move it manually before my time but can,t do much about it now and need to get it sorted so we can actually get some heat in her whilst were driving.
