is it normal to lower the rear springs only or will it have been lowered at the front as well, the clearance looks constant over all 4 arches. Have opened a real can of worms for myself, "front springs, rear springs, air assistors", need to do something as I did add a thread in a previous post about the van scraping over speed bumps, I have to avoid certain streets in my home town, so Ady's it is, just need to decide if it's front springs as well as rear.

Hi Jim,

The front and rear should be the same height from the centre of the wheel arch to the ground.(approx 29/30inches).
Rear height will depend on whether it has Extra load.Normally if the vehicle was lowered it would be All round.

Have ordered front and rear springs from Ady,s, still to decide if I want to fit the air assistors.

Springs and rear Air Lifters, have arrived, local garage will fit next week, thanks to everyone for their advice I will post next week (after fitting) of improvements.

Replacement 2nd hand springs fitted, Air Lifters fitted to the rear springs. To achieve 30" all round wheel arch height the air lifters were inflated to 30psi, I am now able to clear speed bumps easily, ride is a bit more comfortable over rough surfaces, as was pointed out earlier in the post the ride will never be as good as modern day cars however i am happy with the improvement. It took the local garage 4hrs to change the springs and fit the Air Lifter kit,the valves are pointing downwards as advised.

Now Jim it is time to sell your redundant lowering springs on ebay. Some people actually want them.

It looks as If only the front was lowered, there was very little difference in length of the rear springs, I needed to use the air assisors to attain the 30" ground to wheel arch height on the rear. I have an LPG tank and a tow-bar adding extra weight to the rear so even with a set of brand new rear springs it may have sat low. Should manage these humps at Red Squirrel, I can see why people lower the suspension as Elaine dosen't think the van looks as slick but it simply was not practical, it's a campervan that was having difficulty getting in and out of uneven ground on campsites, NOT ANYMORE!

You may want to drop the pressure in the air assisters a little to take the harshness out of the ride. I think ours are set about 22 from memory.

Will try it at various pressures over the weekend ( know just the road to test it on), but it seems ok for starters, would not wish to add any more pressure to it.

Tried at 25psi, seemed a bit better.
