Why would you want to add DRLs to a car anyway? I have LEDs wired to come on with the sidelights but I would only use them when I need lights on anyway. DRLs are another useless piece of legislation imposed on us by the EU. They don't serve any useful purpose and they put motorcyclists at risk because before DRLs on car's if you saw a headlight in daylight you knew it was either a bike or a Volvo. With the introduction of DRLs bikes are going to blend in more and car drivers will not see them.

I wouldn't use a scotchbloc for anything. Either twist and solder or use a proper choccy block connector

DRLs are not meant to give extra light, they are there to assist other drivers to see you approaching. I find they are especially useful in narrow, tree lined roads, where the shade makes it quite dark, but out of the trees it may be a lovely sunny day! (not lately though). They should be wired to come on with the ignition, therefore you can't forget to put them on, particularly when there is a sudden downpour and people don't put their lights on. Just one less thing to worry about!

Hi
Agree with you Paramatt..plus it's compulsory to have dipped headlights on here...BUT, I have dome DRLs to wire in when the weather's warm. I will cut a slot under the headlight and fit them.
Beware of the "DRLs" for sale on a well-known auction site...most of them ARE NOT legal. I found that there are only 2 or 3 makes that comply with EU regs, and they will have the necessary EU paperwork, and be stamped on the lens.
I think they are extortionately priced, but , then, I expect that the manufacturers have been stung for the cost of certification.
My reason for buying, is that they will come on when you turn the ignition on, as I'm often forgetting to turn on the lights in town when going from one car-park to the next!!!
Cheers
Helen
