Coolant Alarm won't stop alarming.

i know nothing about electrics being a girl im not confident in doing that ;-( im not entirely sure where its been wired in from but its got a 12v connector on the end and to get it to work i have to plug it into the cig lighter.

One further explanation that might explain the sporadic nature of the problem is an internal break in the wire that goes from the alarm to the screw - maybe someone yanked it a bit hard. You could try running another wire to check this as it would be quite a quick thing to do.
