I'd dissagree with that, the internals of a turbo are cooled and lubed by oil not water and it is a vital part of turbo care to run the turbo down to mimimise internal damage

13-546 Is an oil pipe as denoted by the banjo fitting on the end and tbh i can't find 13-549 but 13-539 is also an oil pipe, turbo's are not water cooled the extreme temps would boil water instantly thats why oil is used and constantly run through an oil cooler, it also uses an intercooler to cool the air temp entering the turbo. Turbos are at their most efficient on a cold damp foggy morning when the air temp is low and the air is wet and dense.

Sorry matey, 14-270 is the oil feed pipe and 14-290 is the oil drain pipes. The pipes I mentioned are COOLANT pipes. They help control the temperature of the turbo. Click onto the part number and all will be revealed

Let's not get into an argument about it and concede that I'm right

PS - just checked again - I meant 15-539 being the coolant pipe, not 549, my dyscalculia showing again

Not gonna get into a argument with anyone DWH so until i pop the seats up tomorrow and have a look we'll have to agree to dissagree but on any of the turbo's i've removed and replace over the years i can't recall a coolant feed, but after i've had a look tomorrow if i'm wrong i'll gladly say i am ( albeit in very small writing )

the turbo on the v6 isnt cooled by water

Colin from County Cars has just dropped by for a look, and, with no prompting from me whatsoever, said 'Turbo, seen it before but rare. Really sorry, will replace under warranty, no problem'.

Top man, so glad I bought from a (good) dealer.

I hate to agree with anyone from Edinburgh But the turbo on the 2.5td is water cooled.The non water cooled was the Glow in the Dark type.

I'd hate to agree with anyone from Lanarkshire but the reason I know this is because the van I replaced the Bongo with, a Hiace, had an aftermarket glow-in-the-dark type with a turbo timer...................Lets hope M8ongo doesn't get too cold during his investigations

Intercooler is after the turbo. It cools the air exiting the turbo.

As dandy says, there is a coolant pipe to the turbo (on the 2.5 diesel) - see attached pic - red arrow.

well as i said earlier if i'm wrong then i'm wrong so oppologies to dwh for doubting his knowledge, i just musn't have ever removed a liquid cooled unit, back in the 80s/90s when we were wraggin the poop oua RS Turbo's R5 Turbo's etc i remember them glowing white hot after a really good wragging and thought that the bongo being from the same sort of era that they would be a similar set up, i stand before you a corrected and more knowledgable person
