Re: Very noisy 2.0l
I have a 1999 2L Bongo and although louder than any car I've owned its certainly not noisy enough to stop conversation or force a turn up of the radio. I'm watching with interest.

if it is the exhaust as mentioned above this is also a marker, as is slightly less ummph.dunslair wrote: What sort of fuel economy do you get? It sounds like you have a problem somewhere, but I can understand how difficult it can be to measure and resolve![]()
all the best

have you noticed it being flater or thirsty,i know its difficult to guage when you havnt had it long, maybe be good to test drive another for comparrison.
Re: Very noisy 2.0l
I think it has enough Umph, just a bit less than the diesel. I am so far VERY dissapointed in the fuel consumption. It is going to be difficult to compare as its LPG. I have not mearured it on petrol. I was given to understand I should get 26 mpg on petrol (on a run) and I had worked out that as my Volvo also does 26 mpg on petrol (its LPG too) I would get about the same LPG comsumption with the Bongo.
The Volvo can do 210 miles on 42 liters of LPG. I have only used two tanks of LPG in the Bongo but I seem to be getting about 200 miles on 56 liters of LPG!!!! An indication that there may be something other than the noise wrong.

Hi
Again...a stab in the dark....BUT, timing starts to ring bells? I had a Volvo Estate once , and I tried timing it with my light (a very expensive workshop-type ), and the light wouldn't work, so at a later stage, I got another...EVEN MORE expensive model...wouldn't time the Volvo ...nothing worked...I tried both my other cars...no problem with either light ...Now, I never got to the bottom of what was wrong with the Volvo...except that it drank fuel like a bulgarian glutton drinks champagne, and the fact that I never serviced the thing, never changed the oil, emptied the ashtrays, or gave it any attention...as , for some strange reason it ran, and if I touched it, i bet it would never run again
...moral of the tale is that it must have been timed by goblins, as no way in hell was it anywhere near running condition.....
So....is it possible someone has done a DIY timing job by ear, and it would benefit from being set up properly????...such a timing job can give the flat performance, and noise you mention
Cheers
Helen

In the beginning there was nothing , then God said "Let there be Light".....There was still nothing , but ,by crikey, you could see it better.
