Did you manage to get a switch? I think I may need one but just about to investigate. I have a flashing roof light but a 300 mile journey at warp speeds yesterday failed to lift the roof so I assume it is the switch. I binned the beeper ages ago!

The only way to remove the offside microswitch was to cut the wires, and I thought this would stop the beeping. It didn't, so I tried shorting them together to simulate a "closed" switch. It worked! The beeping has stopped. Removing the nearside switch is virtually impossible without completely dismantling the roof, as the wires are trapped between the channelling and the roof. Only one switch needs to work properly to operate the beeper, however.

Is it one switch for each warning or do they both serve the same function, i.e. both need to be closed? Thanks for a helpful thread.

Hi Tom,

at present I have the n/s switch still in place (faulty) and the offside switch is removed. The wires that were connected to the switch I removed are connected together temporarily, until I can get a new switch. The beeper still works when the roof goes up, but it stops when the roof is down so it seems that only one switch is needed for that. My warning light does not work, so either the bulb has blown, or the other switch works it, I am not sure which. You could try operating the nearside microswitch with a screwdriver, with the roof nearly down, to see if that puts the light out. Once I have figured out how to get at the dash light, maybe I will check the bulb.

I also intend to replace the missing switch at some stage, but I no longer work for the company I was going to order it through. I am still on good terms with them, and they have said they will still get it for me, but when is anybody's guess.

Thanks, I bent the actuating arm and it now works fine, thanks to your explicit advice. Someone seems to have bent it before too!
