Hi...
By far and away the best finish around was in the 60's, when you had the vehicle coated with glue, and fine nylon (or similar) hairs were sprayed on with an electro-static device...giving a fine furry coating...I wish you could still get that!....just an occasional "wash-n-blow-dry", and you're off to the Ball...COOOO...a real velvet Bongo...and no stone-chips showing...what colour to choose, though??????...your own Bongo Teddy-bear......
Cheers
Helen

No issues with mine...... properly prepared with carnuba wax finish....and a showroom shine polish before putting on and when washing Bongo....remove it..... simple.... I guess those who have had issues did not prepare Bongo's bonnet before fitting nor removed at wash time....

Hi
Nope..that's a flock finish...the original was done by coating the surface with glue, and spraying fine "hairs" made of nylon, or similar, by an electrostatic applicator, with the resulting surface looking like a furry finish. It was only popular for a year or so in 1970 or thereabouts, and is almost impossible to find now. It was called "Velvetex", and the only reference I can find is here:
http://www.sheffieldforum.co.uk/showthread.php?t=592849
I've only seen one car "done" in it, and that was a brown velvety mini up in Kings Road.... where else in the '70's 8) 8) 8) ...a very Kool place 60's / early 70's....
now...an Austin hearse circa 1950s would be a really Kool ride in purple velvet...and HUGE polished alloys...with a suitable V8 =P~ =P~ =P~ =P~
Sorry, I seem to have side-tracked
Cheers
