Bongo Fury

Hi everyone looking to flatten the rear seat and backrest to remove the unevenness of the arm rests etc:
If you are in Wiltshire within 30miles of Calne-
I took my bongo to South West Auto trimming.

Unless you have unusual needs or an unusual seat, budget for up to £170.

They took out the metal armrest frame and rest but did not alter the structure. They put in high performance foam, so it's really comfy as a seat as well. They also sewed up the fabric correctly leaving the openings for the seat belt

Look at some of the options this eBay seller has on offer. We have the memory foam versions of the roof mattress and the mattress for front and middle seats (we have a rear quarter removable conversion). They are both excellent quality and superbly comfortable!

I know I am resurrecting this topic, but does anyone know if there is anywhere near the Aylesbury area who could flatten our bench seat?

This is what we ended up doing, worked really well for minimal cost.

Can't help with your search, but we've found that removing middle seat, buy two plastic collapsible crates (that are v useful for storage as well) that are the same height as the rear seats are when folded flat, add custom made memory foam mattress (£80) and bingo, flat, full sized bed, no need for boards as legs are light and the crates can easily support them. Cheap and very comfortable. Mattress folds in half and stores behind rear seats.

Thanks guys. We have a rear conversion, so I think briwy's suggestion may be the one for us, the middle seat is part of the bed briwy, have you got any tips? Stupid question, but I am assuming its a case of undoing the stitching at the base of the original seat pads, removing the shaped foam and cloth, and replacing them with the new foam and cloth?

Yes, basically just strip the foam and upholstery off the seat and bolt ply to the frame. Few pics here may help.









The foam needs shaping to fit properly.





Seat back and base covered in lining material from caravan supplies place.

The seat back has ply back and front and then I filled gaps between the ply round the edges with expanding foam trimmed back to the ply edges.

Her indoors made the covers from some material picked up in the local market. Covers have zips so that they can be taken off and washed if required.

We have two bench seats in ours. Bought a cheap memory foam mattress for about
£30. Works a treat. I am always very comfortable on it. We had an ikea chair bed
mattress too which was nice but massive.

I have finally flattened our bench seat using briwys technique... It was an interesting challenge attaching the ply to the base of the seat, but I have attached a link to some photos of the end result..

I am going to try and tidy them up a little where the base frame and seat back are exposed, but it is at least functional

I have just been told off by my better half for not giving credit where credit's due. She made the seat covers with the help of my mother in-law

Hi Guys
Just bought a bongo and like the look of the seat flattening. Does anyone know of someone in the hampshire area who can do that? Failing that are there any other suggestions out there when space is a premium. I like the sound of the lidl seats.
