It is possible to use the shorter plugs (ngk recommended due to some of the cheaper ones failing/breaking off) & gently bend the fuel rail a bit, or I think one or 2 peeps have extended the top of the shorter plugs using bits of spark plug IIRC?
Thanks for sharing this tips. I currently bought a new diesel glow plugs and I have problems installing it. The good thing is that a repair shop already made sure that I got 83mm that fits my ride.

Cheers Missfixit , Ihave googled IIRC and glow plugs/spark plugs and pulled a blank ,can you elaborate a bit more for us newbies as I would like to extend the glow plug to the 102 length to avoid a repeat blowing of the fuse :) and/or purchasing longer spark plugs as I spent £50 on the 83mm ones

PS how do you know if they have failed I have one that does not work but the glow plug light does not flash or anything

get some old spark plugs and remove the round cap part and save,saw off the thread on the old plugs,using the round cap screw this to the top of your heater plug, then screw the threaded piece into it then fit the lock nut(or two) for the heater plug, make sure everything is really tight, sorted.
to test the heater plugs.
remove the common connection between them all,take the battery connection off first.
then with a good ohm meter put black term to earth on the engine, and the red term to the top center of the plug. at room temps the restance measured should be 0.9 ohms or just under, as the temps raise the resistance noted could/should be lower, if they are cold and the resistance noted is below 0.5 they are on the way out, if the resistance noted is nil chuck em away. the res falls the older they are, so you are aiming to get really high readings, pref all the same or similar.
or you can test them out of the engine dipped in water of a known temp and then measure for really acurate results, but this isnt really ness.
