Two holes Steve... Could the holes be a stress relief thing? An extra safeguard from the pump housing cracking or something during rapid heat/cool-down? Just chucking an idea about.

The old pump as far as can be ascertained, was not leaking. The new pump is part of the cooling system servicing, along with the new stat etc.

Dave just confirmed that the leaking hose was directly above the pump. :wink:

Would the forte flush remove the dye effect of the coolant from the inside?

Better go now... finished my brew, and Dave has just put his overalls on... i had the misfortune of seeing him cock his leg up to don them... I never liked sprouts anyway thankfully :-&

Brown and Rust particles........ Borates causing corrosion.....and borates are present in all G11 coolants.....where as Japanese(all) and UK Premium reds coolants contain no borates,phosphates or silicates......

If any of the Red coolant vehicles have Brown or rust in the coolant then a G11 coolant probably has been used and not flushed out effectively at sometime... As for Brown and overheat.....possible too with mixed G11/G12coolant meaning sludge and gelling....and possible overheats

As an add on..... FL-22 Mazda coolant is G12 type and Pre 2006 is Green coloured and after that time is Blue......Both of those coloured coolants in the UK are G11 types containing borates etc.......
