Thats what we use our Tesco vouchers for. Sleeping over, we have stopped at the services = the entrance to which are one exit before the chunnel off the M20. We have arrived at the chunnel early and have usually been put on the first train. Got there ten minutes late once and had to wait three hours but that was on the first Friday night of the summer school holidays. If you fear the Dartford Crossing potential for delays go round the M25 the other way. Distance in milage from Chesterfiield (if via the M42 and M40) is less than 20 miles and there is no toll to pay - Pays to be listening to the Radio for the traffic news.
Found the Chunnel people to be very keen on getting you through ASAP!
