I had hoped for something similar but I think the little blighter has sprung a leak.
Should find out in the next week or so, I want to get it back on the road for April.

Hmm... My bongo needed a half litre top up whilst it was at at the bodyshop for a few months, it was topped up and is holding it's level now it's in more regular use. No apparent leak.

I put a bit more than that in, about a header tank full.
Hopefully a pump, full flush and a paranoid summer of listening to beeps and buzzes should see it ok.
Long as it's sorted for Tackeroo it will do.

Just a thought on this, I visited a company who make all sorts of seals, from basic ones to those used in ships and oil refineries.
Many seals are designed to work with the rotation of a shaft to create a pressure which actually forces whatever liquid/gas away from the seal, so that it is not just the actual 'pressure' of the seal which stops leakage, some were almost like mini fans the way they worked.
I'm just wondering if this could explain what happened in BDC's case?

Picking the bongo up tomorrow from Ian Taylors, a new water pump was fitted and no other leak sources were found, pump condition was ok so maybe this validates munroman's theory?
Maybe mine last more than BDC's etc because it stood for longer and has more wear on it? Temp was -14 over the winter and it was stored in a open area?
Moral of the story - run the engine more when stored perhaps?

Bit of an update
The bongo needed a bit more of a bleed but has been running fine this week. The problem was definitely the water pump which had water staining on it. So the message is, if you are storing your bongo over the winter, make sure your coolant is good and keep an eye on the pump area for leaks and run the engine regularly.
