Smidge was developed by a team from Edinburgh University Link to their site below
Smidge is also water and sweat proof. I will be buying a big supply as I am a midge magnet. #-o

Excellent tips Tony - I'll try and remember them both =D>

The winds thing makes complete sense, from personal observation. I wonder if the infra-red trail or the scent trail (whichever they rely on) coming from a warm human animal becomes broken up and confusing for them when wind breaks the trails up. Also, what is the flying speed of a midge I wonder?
You should also avoid eating grass products as the midge is attracted to bovine breath.............. 8)

Bizarrely enough we were there on 19th December but were struggling to find the falls - that could be why  #-o
