Long turnover when cold or damp

you say you have replaced the water temp sensor,the one at the front of the head,single wire connection.did the garage bleed the coolant system after?
the (engine sensor) 2 wire connection which you mention is the fan control switch,it is a good idea to replace this,but please in my opinion use only mazda parts for their accuracy,and bleed again,

Thanks for you response.

Sorry I may have confused the issue! The analogue temp gauge on the dashboard does not work. The orange glow plug light is fine. I was told that there is a temp sensor somewhere in the engine that gives the gauge its reading. It is likely that the snesor on the engine is not working.

I know the glow plugs are working since a mechanic ran an amp meter across them. They are not working as new (apparantly they should work within 8 secs and mine are taking 15 secs)

Test the feed going to the glow plugs, when cold you will find that the plugs should be ON until the engine is warm (could be 5 or more minutes depending on engine temp),or when the engine is reved to 2000/2500.RPM.

If this is not the case you will get lumpy tickover.IE engine missfiring.
