If it all works when you remove the wood, the sunroof will be slow & squeak like hell until it gets cleaned up & lubed.
Mine sounded like like the Titanic hitting an iceberg the first time i used it...! & took about as long to open as the ship took to go down.
But after a bit of TLC it worked fine.

Just propping it up with wood won't stop a leak as ALL sunroofs "leak" because it just isn't possible to seal the edge 100% and it's why they usually have drain tubes.
But I can't see in the lushprojects diagram where any drain tubes are shown.
If the Bongo has drain tubes does anybody know where they are?
If there are drain tubes it is important to make sure they are clear AND connected properly. If they are clear but not connected at the top they can't do their job properly.

Agreed Scanner..

I was trying to understand the mindset of the guy who would wedge a couple of bits of wood in to what looks like prop up the sunroof at the back...

Maybe he thought it would push the rubber edging tighter to the roof line???

If you follow the gutter on the outside of the sunroof track on either side to the front where the end of the fin that flaps up on opening is, the drain holes are there! (I'd say/guess on part 70-630B towards the front?)
I know a tube comes out right up behind the sill, just up & behind the gubbins where the front door negative trigger for the courtesy light is, on either side of the van...
I used a house plant watering can to check mine & find out where it came out!

I've just been out and checked mine and saw the drain holes each side at the front - what I couldn't find in the diagrams is any actual drain tubes - are there any tubes or do the holes just drain into voids built into the vehicle body?
Those plastic blocks shouldn't hold anything up or stop anything moving as they are simply a fitment on the rear sliding mounts that move the rear edge of the sunroof up and down as it closes.
It sounds to me after, looking at how the sunroof works, that maybe in this case the "close and lift rear edge" function wasn't lifting the rear edge of the sunroof and the blocks were put there to hold the sunroof up and prevent wind, water and whatever going into the chamber behind the sunroof that it retracts into.
I can imagine that if the rear edge of the sunroof wasn't closed up flush with the rest of the roof, driving in rain would cause masses of water to be forced into that chamber and probably from there into the rest of the roof.
I think celtictigress will need to remove the wooden blocks and try to operate the roof, the plastic blocks should just move back with the roof mechanism. Then when the roof is closed they (and the sliding mount they are part of) should
move forward with the roof until it is closed and then continue to move a few more cm's and lift the rear edge of the roof until it seals level with the rest of the roof.
If this last bit "continue to move forward and lift the rear edge of the sunroof" doesn't happen - that is where the fault is.

Neither could i..
If you look under the drivers door to the rear of the pillar a dark tube comes out..
(Now go easy on me with this!)

Possibly near the rear heater matrix stuff going into the floor is..??
There's one on the other side too!
Its hard to spot!

Just been out and watered mine and yes there are 4 drains - one behind each front door, which must run down the "B" pillars and one behind each rear wheel which must run down each side of the tailgate.
The back two must drain the rear of the chamber the sunroof retracts into because the water runs a long way back before you hear it dripping out onto the ground.

Yep! If the rear ones ever blocked it would be a hassle removing the crud.. I think the rear head lining would need to be removed for a start.

Yes.
Where is that hidden away, I searched everywhere for it.
I found the roof panel diagram but couldn't find the sunroof mechanism itself anywhere.

HATCH?
Didn't bother looking there as I thought they were calling the tailgate a hatch.
What has the sunroof got to do with "hatch"?
Words fail me.

Scanner, i thought i'd seen this over a year ago under tintop sunroof..
I would have thought a hatch is something that flips open...?
