Thats the worry. If you have a good socket and extension bar you may get a good purchase, enough to snap the bolt. Not sure there's much you can do to avoid that (hindsight is a wonderful thing). How did you sort it dude as they are welded bolts/studs/threads arent they?

Hi Mike,I used a 6 sided socket as you suggested,but I actually snapped it without using an extension bar! I was only

using the handle when it snapped,(don't know me own strength! ) I had to drill out the rest of the bolt and then

drill through the round welded nut thing on the bracket,using HSS drills,from 2mm all the way up to 8 mm,to make an

hole big enough for a new nut and bolt! Drilling alone,took me an hour and a quarter But at least it's done

Excellent Lee. V. useful for others to have that clear explanation in case it happens to them (I reckon some nuts - me included - just can't be saved, unless something like a nut splitter could be got on them). What a pain!

It's the ARB brackets (on the rear) that are being discussed here

Not sure if ours went due to camber and and very steep hill. Most cars lift a wheel of ground when going slowley round corner. Bongo does not lift but must put a strain on role bar.

which is why I advised to replace ALL the components that are connected to the Anti roll bar.....it makes sense to renew all the parts at the same time.....they will all be at the same age, not one part would be weaker than any other part connected to the ARB so there will not be any component which will be weak. If you only change one part then there will be another component failure in a short while.
For the front and rear Anti Roll Bars........you have the Bar...... and the Bushes for mountings and the Drop links to connect to the suspension...... If you replace all the components........... there wont be a weak part that could fail the MOT test either....
