 I can tell you exactly what it costs £1400 with 2 new head gaskets, heads skimmed and a new water pump . . spent 2 months getting it done at the end of last year! So yeh, do not want to go down that road again. I am in denial really about anything being wrong .. but I know there is, so going back to the garage on Monday - hoping its just in need of another bleed . . .

If that still doesn't solve it then going to get it recovered to either Cov or Discount Trucks in Newbury for a second opinion . . .

Will I ever get this Bongo right and on the road?!! :(

Frustrating is this, but you've come this far now so stick with it. When this is all over it'll be such a relief and it'll feel like a huge weight has been lifted off your shoulders  . Im sure one of these Bongo specialists will help solve your problems [-o< .
Good luck

I can't believe I am about to type this and therefore jinx everything . . .

But turns out that the new rad had an overflow pipe on it - not needed on Bongos. When the engine was under pressure - i.e. being hammered on the motorway - we were losing coolant and the temp was going up . .

Thanks to all for their advice here - I was able to tell the garage what to look for. They have blanked the pipe and fingers crossed . . . dare I say it .. . problem solved! =D>

Let's hope that's sorted it [-o< , make sure they check that the pressure cap isn't lower rated on the rad than the expansion bottle & that they're sealing ok.

=D> Isn't it a relief when there's a simple fix. 8)
The standard radiator does not have an extra pipe at the top, so is sealed when the rad cap is in place.
Some replacement rads do have an extra pipe and this pipe needs to be sealed seperately.
This is what we suggested on another thread:
We mentioned the pipe on the rad a couple of years ago. It's not on the standard rad but is found on some of the replacements. The pipe will let coolant out, so needs to be blanked.... you could use a jubilee clip to fix a short piece of hose to the pipe, then blank the other end of the hose with a bolt and another jubilee clip.
