Years ago, thermostats always used to fail in the open position

It seems a damned silly idea for them for fail in the closed position - a definite backward step that could cost a blown-up engine

Check your water level. No water no warm up. May sound sound silly but I have experienced this on a couple of cars where the water level has dropped.

The LPG system uses heat from the engine coolant and from cold runs on petrol until the coolant is 40 degrees, hence the comment above.
Interesting is that Andy as our V6 LPG runs on petrol until the coolant reaches 50 degrees, tried it at 40 when we first had it converted but it started hunting for revs and then stalled

, hence the tweak to 50 degrees, runs lovely now

.
As for warm up, the heater is blowing hot air quiet quickly, but we have had a full flush and new antifreeze/coolant and bleed recently though.

Hi Izzy, some systems can run from cold, my smart with the same prins system cuts in at 27 degrees. Originally this was the setting for the bongo but it suffered as yours did so they moved up to 40, ok 99% of the time but very cold weather it might hunt although in the summer we changed the pipework so it has a much better coolant flow.

Mine warms up fine but the heating has always takena good 10 minutes to kick in - no matter what time of year and coome what may. Been that way for the 2 years I have had it but works fine once it wakes up

I'm experiencing exactly the same problem on my V6, plus an additional fault.
The oil light flickers on and off until the engine is fully warm. Then it goes off, and stays off.
The diesel has a low level indication on the oil pressure light, wonder if the V6 does too? worth checking the level, especially if it's not long since been done, may be a slight leak on the filter or plug, or it could just be the level was a bit low from the oil change & it's only showing up with the higher viscosity in colder temperatures (slower return to sump on cold start up?)
It was the pressure switch, which needed replacing. BTW, the oil pressure switch for the V6 is the same as that found on the diesel engine. 45 minute job at the garage, £25 labour, I supplied the switch.

Marvellous. One bit of the world of automotive problems that hasn't changed in 40yrs then, when my old Morris 1000 showed the same symptoms and responded to the same treatment
