I've often wondered that. My conclusion was the Japs build roads like they build cars i.e. properly

hi guys .......
wow what a difference to the front suspension :) :D :D :D
it is sooooooooo much firmer, handling is less wallowey, almost sporty in comparison,i have more 'feel' and connection with the road.
no more horrible noises when driving over speed bumps!! :D :D ~(it was graunching sound)
no wheel bounce on rough pieces or road :D :D - this was starting to drive me crazy as i do navigate alot of lanes on my drive to work.
the shocks i fitted were genuine mazda.
im so pleased with the results as this was my only gripe with the car.....
it just goes to show how knackered the old ones were
i could push down on the front of her and it felt v soft before.
the same test now - there is much more resistance.
all the clonking on rough ground was obviously wheel bounce due to little damping....
my freda is a p reg, done 60,000 miles,
maybe there are alot of bongo drivers with simular problems that have just got used to it, poke up with it, or just consider it as natural charateristic of the car. :? :?
i would hghly recommend any bongo drivers with any of the issues mentioned above in this thread to investigate the effiency of thier shock absorbers
anyway im a happy bunny as driving my freda now is soooooooo much more pleasurable :D :D :D

cheers for all your kind help and valuable support
ricky :D

Thanks for this excellent post rick - most thought provoking, and v. pleased you are now riding in comfort.

I hardly dare ask, but what did a pair of Mazda shocks cost you and where did you source them?

hi mike,
i originally ordered a pair from motormania witham for £100 the pair.
these were pattern parts but i thought for that sort of money were v good value, however when these turned up they were clearly wrong parts, though their supplier were saying they were correct it was clear to see they were completly different as they looked more like rear ones!! #-o
i got my deposit back and thought id try the garage where i intended to get her mot'd - shepherd motors gt baddow.
they sourced correct genuine pts, and took care off the complete job. the shocks were £85 each, fitting cost £60.

you can source these parts online however, ava leisure mail order,

cheers ricky :)
