Hence the mod as described by BDC in MM's link, or fitting the resistor which I think simulates the airbag being there.
The other think to make sure of is that you've informed your insurance company.
Saw BDCs link and will definitely do something (thanks MM) - MOTs not for ages so got time to think about what. Still waiting back from steering wheel supplier re resistor, so will have to watch this space!

Did that and got this response first:

"I think that buyers have been removing the ring contact and wiring straight into the horn contact plug on your steering coloum using the boss its self to help create a circuit.
As for the airbag warning light. Yes a resistor will do the job. Google the resistor rating for a Mazda or Bongo air bag ohm rating. Im sure you will be able to find the correct rating."

When I asked for further clarification I got this:

"I have never seen inside a Bongo before. So I do not have any first hand experience.
I can only say sit in front of your car and apply what I said to your car with it all in front of you.
I am only a seller of car parts and not a mechanic. If you think you are going to struggle than I would highly recommend you leave it to a professional. Some buyers can do this with there eyes shut and some don't have a clue. You have to gauge your mechanical experience and decide if it is within your ability. Try using a Bongo or Mazda owners website to help you out."

Did you buy from the same seller I got mine from http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... K:MEWNX:IT ? as I said he provided the instructions & resistor, the description does say "for complete installation" . Saying that, can't really fault his responses.

Yep - bought from the same seller. Have e-mailed him asking for the same.

Have checked with a qualified MOT tester today who told me:

If an airbag light is flashing and the wheel has an airbag then it will fail.
If the bulb is taken out and the wheel has an airbag it will also fail.
If the bulb has been taken out and the wheel has no airbag then there is nothing actually to test so it can't fail on it!

Bulb out it is then. :)
